# Understanding Monocle Application Health Status

Each Monocle application shows a health status badge indicating whether it's actively sending traffic. Learn what each color means and what to check if an application goes quiet.

## Prerequisites

- A Monocle application set up in your Spur account

## Outcomes

- Understand what each health status badge means
- Know what to check when an application shows an amber or red status

## Step 1: Check the status badge

Each application in your Monocle dashboard shows a colored status badge next to its name:

Gray — the application has never reported data yet; setup is still in progress

Green — traffic was observed within the last 24 hours (healthy)

Amber — no traffic for between 24 and 72 hours; often a temporary quiet stretch rather than a real problem

Red — no traffic for more than 72 hours (3 days), suggesting Monocle may no longer be installed correctly

## Step 2: Look for the traffic warning banner

When an application is in amber or red status, a warning banner appears next to the application selector, showing how long it's been quiet. Hover over the banner for the full message.

## Step 3: Investigate a quiet application

An amber or red status usually means the Monocle snippet is no longer running on the site or app it was installed on — for example after a site redesign or a change to your content security policy. Re-check your installation using your integration's setup guide to confirm the snippet is still present and loading correctly.
